Walmart (minus) Germany = Cool
It gives me great pleasure to see Walmart fail anywhere. Three points for Germany!

My mom, who (with my dad) lives in Walmart central (Arkansas), called me the other day to tell me this. I guess she knows what matters to me...

Some argued it's because Germans don't want their purchases being in put in bags by employees.. Strange idea. I think Walmart just failed because of the competition, German retailers have to face veeery price sensitive customers (you know Geiz ist geil?)

The Walmart in Berlin never packed my backs 'til now. I think a lot of people welcome a little extra service.
Honestly, I think Walmart's prices were already very competitive. The Walmat in Berlin (I think there's only one) is always packed. I don't see how it can fail.
Then again, maybe they were too cheap?

Stylewalker, Walmart did not put customers purchases in bags, customers had to do that themselves. I'd be glad to have someone put my purchases in bags for me...
Also, Walmart was very cheap. In fact, now there's another retailer moved into the big Walmart shop in Berlin, and this retailer is more expensive than Walmart... But maybe Walmart was too cheap to make profits?
